By Sean Sloan Published: 12/01/2009This is starting out life as a simple list of things to do and will be expanded over time:1. Clearly name your video files with accurate keyword terms in the file name2. Use Flash 8 or Adobe Bridge to be certain that the metadata for you video files is complete and accurate3. Create a video sitemap.xml file to feed Google the paths to your video4. Provide keyword-based text links to your video5. Put accurate captions around your videos6. When posting to YouTube be certain to completely fill out the Description and Tags fields. Note: you can link to your site from the description field as long as you use the full address, ie. "http://www.your-site-name-here.com" is correct7. Providing YouTube with an optimized .flv file results in the least loss of quality and shortest time until the video is live8. Be sure to create titles with your phone number and web address so that you can be contacted no matter where you video ends up being used9. Keep your video focused, informative and give them a clear "Call to Action", ie. "Call today at 555-555-1212"10. Think more, shorter video as opposed to long form ones. Each focused video allows you to gain ranking, traffic and authority for the given keyword contained there in11. Seriously consider either a speech-to-text or other means of transcription: what is discussed in your video should be keyword-rich material
